Lauren Faria, FMHS freshman, was crowned Miss East Texas Outstanding Teen (part of Miss America program) on Saturday, Mar 3rd in Commerce, TX.

Her platform is "Power of STEM for a Better World". Lauren performed a jazzy ballet en pointe dance number to "Feel it Still”. In addition, the competition consisted of a six minute interview with a panel of judges (25%), onstage question & evening gown 20%), scholastic achievement (10%) and fitness portion(10%).

Lauren is a strong STEM advocate. She partnered with Forestwood Middle School and brought a female engineer to speak at Career Day and helped raise funds for Donald Elementary's STEM Academy (first STEM Academy within LISD). Lauren aspires to become an engineer and she credits her math teacher for her love of math, science and technology.

In addition to this title, Lauren is a FMHS AFJROTC Cadet, Color Guard/ Band, Girl Scout and was a recipient of the coveted Jag Award during her first semester.

Lauren Faria will compete for the title of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen in June.
