The Fastest game on Two Feet comes to Dragon Stadium with Six North Texas players including Flower Mounds' Sprock and Coppell’s Hruby brothers

Called the fastest game on two feet, the speed and excitement of top-level D1 lacrosse will be on display this April 4th at Dragon Stadium.  The game will pit the Air Force Academy Falcons against the Bellarmine Knights.  The game showcases the local growth of lacrosse and increased level of competition as six former Texas high school players will take the field.

The North Texas players in the game include former Coppell standouts the Hruby brothers, Senior Nate and Freshman Nick.  Both players were midfielders for Coppell where they won a State Championship together in 2011.  Each earned All State designation as well.

Making an impact as a freshman, Nick ranks second on the team with 15 goals in 9 games. They are joined on the Falcons roster by sophomore Barrett Anigian, a midfielder who played locally for the Episcopal School of Dallas where he was a 3-year starter and 2-year captain.

The Knights roster features former Southlake Dragon Connor Harryman, a freshman midfielder and face off specialist.  Harryman was a large contributor to a Dragons team that reached the Elite Eight in the state finals last year with both his goal-scoring and face-off skills.

He is joined on the Knights roster by Freshman Goalie Drew Goethals and sophomore midfielder Dylan Sprock.  Goethals, a Dallas Jesuit product was coached by former Syracuse National Championship and MVP-winning goalie Chris Surran. Goethals has been the starter since their first game.  Sprock, a long-stick middie, attended Liberty Christian and twice earned All-State honors playing for Flower Mound High School and was selected as Texas’ Defensive MVP and earned a state title in 2013.

The game is being sponsored by the Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association to promote lacrosse, help expose players to top-level competition, and demonstrate that there are opportunities to play the game at advanced levels.  Given the level of competition and skill in the Texas High School Lacrosse League in general, and the North Division specifically, North Texas has become a growing area of focus for college recruiting.  The North District, which is where Coppell competes, had seven of the eight teams, and all four finalists, in last year’s Division 1 and 2 state championships.

The game will also show the lacrosse community at large the growing popularity and strength of lacrosse in Texas.  A visible example of this will be the halftime photo taken of all youth teams and players. This photo of the largest collection of youth players ever in one location.
