Flower Mound Community Invited to 'Race to Nowhere' Film Screening at McKamy MS

Bring your "brown bag" dinner and join concerned parents in the McKamy cafeteria for a screening of the groundbreaking education documentary "Race to Nowhere" - the first film to identify and challenge a one-size-fits-all achievement culture in American schools and to document its impact on students. The goal of this film is to raise awareness, create dialogue and empower us to take action in our homes, schools and community.

Tues, June 4 at 6:30 p.m.
The film is 85 minutes, and we will allow for 30 minutes of discussion following the film.
This event is open to all parents and community members - students welcome yet not appropriate for young children, as the film is rated PG-13.

Featuring heartbreaking stories of students across the country who have been pushed to the brink by over-scheduling, over-testing and the pressure to achieve, "Race to Nowhere" points to a silent epidemic in our school. Through the testimony of educators, parents and education experts, it reveals an education system in which cheating has become commonplace; students have become disengaged; stress-related illness, depression and burnout are rampant; and young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.
