This past June, Lauren Faria, a local Flower Mound High School competitive marching band student and Air Force JROTC Rocketry Commander, competed for the title of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen. After returning from a January band performance at Tournament of Roses parade, Faria competed and won the title of Miss Austin’s Outstanding Teen. Faria grabbed the local title which made her eligible to run for June's state title.

 

Out of 39 teens and over the course of a week’s worth of preliminaries which consisted of: eight minute private interview with a panelist of judges, fitness routine, talent, and evening gown and On Stage Question, Lauren's name was announced as one of ten teens to compete for finals night. Faria said hearing her name was surreal and was honored to compete with such great girls. Allie Graves, Miss Lone Star Outstanding Teen was announced winner that evening.

 

In addition to placing top ten semi-finalist, Lauren was top ten overall interview and performed flute to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. She walked away with a $500 college scholarship.

 

Lauren is an arts and STEM education advocate and aspires to become an electrical engineer.
