The Taekwondo America National Tournament took place Jan. 28-29 in Nashville, TN, where 17 Flower Mound Taekwondo students won over 40 medals in three individual competitions (board-breaking, forms and sparring) and one team competition.

“Our students never cease to amaze me,” said Bill Mischke, Owner and Chief Instructor at Flower Mound Taekwondo. “Their drive and determination is inspiring.”

The 2022 January National Tournament featured 47 Taekwondo America Schools from 12 different states, and approximately 670 competitors. Competitors ranged in age from 4 - 50+.

In addition to individual competitions, the National Tournament also hosted the Demonstration (Demo) Team Competition. During this event student groups present a 6 minute long performance, completely created and choreographed by the team members.

The demonstration is graded on complexity, creativity, synchronization and board-breaking techniques. The Flower Mound Taekwondo Demo Team placed 2nd in this year's competition, while still holding their title for the most first place wins of any school.

“I am so proud of all of our students,” said Mischke, “and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.”
