GeneIQ, a molecular diagnostics laboratory that provides COVID-19 testing to facilities and organizations across the country, is holding the grand opening for their newly launched drive-thru testing at its lab (located at 3716 Standridge Drive) on Saturday, January 9th and Sunday, January 10th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The company will be offering PCR testing for COVID-19 and their new combination 4-in-1 PCR test, which checks for viruses SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), influenza A (Flu A), influenza B (Flu B), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), more commonly known as the common cold. The newly developed combination test is offered for symptomatic individuals and administered via a non-invasive nasal swab.

The event is open to the public and all first responders will be tested for free. GeneIQ accepts all forms of insurance and non-insured, symptomatic patients can receive free testing with a valid driver’s license, state issued ID, or social security number. The cash pay price is $150 for COVID-19 testing and $199 for the combo test.  The company plans to make the drive-thru an ongoing occurrence every weekend, and to continue to give free testing to first responders.

Both PCR tests, the COVID-19 and the combo have a turnaround time of about 24 hours. The process involves inserting a non-invasive nasal swab about half an inch into the nasal cavity and rotating it along the anterior membrane of each nostril. It is as effective and accurate as the nasopharyngeal test, but without the pain or discomfort. GeneIQ has the ability to test up to 10,000 individuals a day and serves more than 500 long-term care facilities, as well as physician medical practices, state and local municipalities, and corporations across North America.
