Flower Mound High School opens its season this month on the main stage with the actors from its Varsity Theatre Company, Dramatic PAWS. The Lost Boy by Ronald Gabriel Paolillo takes audiences back to a time before Neverland to a personal tragedy that inspired the character of Peter Pan. The two-act play has been called "an important and entertaining work." (Bob Heisler, The Journal News).  

Performances of The Lost Boy run Sept. 24 and 26 (7 p.m.) and Sept. 27 (2:30 p.m.) at the Flower Mound High School Jack & Donna Clark Auditorium, 3411 Peters Colony Road, Flower Mound. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and are available online starting Sept. 12 at www.fmhstheatre.net.

Director Scott Taylor, along with a creative team led by Dean Robertson and technical crews, present the work that was produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

The PAWS cast includes: Tad Broadbent as J.M. Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan; Simone Brazinni as Mrs. Barrie and Dean Derebeew as Peter Pan.

The playwright, Gabriel Paolillo, who played Horshack on television’s “Welcome Back, Kotter,” was inspired by the life of writer James M. Barrie. Barrie created the character of Peter Pan in response to losing his own brother to a tragic childhood accident.

According to Playscripts production notes: “Despite finding success and fame, James M. Barrie is dissatisfied with his work and his life. He returns to his hometown in Scotland to visit his mother, who still blames him for the long-ago death of his older brother in a skating pond. Haunted by the tragic accident and his mother's harsh words, James slowly begins to confront his family's tragic past with the help of an unexpected friendship and his own gift for storytelling.”
