Celebrating a move to its new location near the SE corner of 2499 and 3040, Footlights Dance Studio debuts its 10,000-square-foot studio with grand opening festivities featuring a special appearance by McKaley Miller, a former Footlights dancer well-known for her roles in Disney's K.C. Under Cover and Where Hope Grows.

The community is invited to attend on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for face painting, balloon sculptures, free jazz, ballet/tap, hip hop and Zumba classes, registration discounts and door prizes.

In addition, the IN-N-OUT Burger food truck will be on site serving burgers from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the studio’s new location at 2500 Northshore Blvd. in Flower Mound. Proceeds from the burger sales benefit scholarship funds.

“We have outgrown our former space and feel incredibly blessed as we prepare to welcome more dancers and performers than ever before in our 19-year history,” says studio owner Amy Parsons, who is also on staff at Trietsch Memorial UMC and wife of FMHS physics teacher Dave Parsons.

Footlights Dance Studio, in the former Cornerstone Daycare space, now features:

  • Six studio rooms with state-of-the-art, professional dance floors
  • A waiting room plus expanded lobby
  • A student lounge
  • Closed circuit TV viewing of all classes
  • Complimentary wifi

Fall classes have just begun and it’s not too late to register for offerings such as tap/ballet combos, jazz, acting & musical theater, drill team prep, hip hop, contemporary, pointe, tumbling and clogging. Take advantage of a registration discount, and ask about unique programs such as home school dance classes, an all-boys hip hop team, signed classes for deaf students, sign language classes and a musical theater troupe--Footnotes.

Footlights Dance Studio is home to the award-winning Footlights Performing Arts Company (FPAC). The advanced teams that comprise FPAC include the jazz companies and competitive teams for hip hop, modern, clogging, contemporary, tap and musical theater. FPAC auditions take place in May and August for the school year; teams, from Mini Company to Senior and Elite, perform in the community and across the US and travel to Oklahoma and Dallas-area competitions. The FPAC Elite team will perform in Times Square in April 2016.

More grand opening event details will be posted to the Footlights Dance Studio website at www.footlightsdancestudio.net.
