Flower Mound United Methodist Church Plans to Open Doors to a New Sanctuary

Flower Mound United Methodist Church raised a tent over the empty field in the shadow of the Flower Mound water tower in anticipation of new growth this spring. Plans are underway to build a 15,000 square foot sanctuary that will rise up in Fall 2014. The capital campaign — Opening Doors to Faith, Fellowship and Service — brought together more than 525 members and visitors to eat, pray and plan for the future of this growing congregation.

“Flower Mound UMC has worshipped in its current space for a decade; here we have worshipped together, celebrated the joy of weddings and baptisms, and grieved the loss of friends and family. Like Flower Mound and surrounding cities, our community of faith is growing. It is truly a blessing to be a part of what God is doing in our midst,” says Senior Pastor Holly Gotelli.

Plans for the new FMUMC sanctuary designed by RGA Architects include:

  • A 600-seat sanctuary
  • A large narthex and fellowship area
  • Greatly expanded nursery
  • Bride’s room with a private restroom
  • A beautiful new pipe organ

The all-congregation tent event featured brunch specialties by Swirl Bakery and kicked off the capital campaign, which concludes on April 6. The hope is to complete construction in December 2015.

“My wife Carol and I believe that this is a wonderful time in the life of our church, and an incredible opportunity to share the love of Christ with our neighbors,” says John Carter. The Carters co-chair the FMUMC capital campaign.

Flower Mound United Methodist Church, at 3950 Bruton Orand Blvd., welcomes visitors to its Sunday morning services at 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. and to participate in its family and youth ministry activities, music programs, long- and short-term Bible studies and mission outreach projects.
