In 2010, a study found that Flower Mound was not at risk of becoming a "cancer cluster" due to natural gas drilling. Now, Rachael Rawlins, a researcher at University of Texas in Austin, has released a study that questions the link between drilling and elevated cancer rates. 

UT Austin issued a statement saying, “with 95 percent certainty that rates of childhood leukemia and childhood lymphoma in Flower Mound are significantly higher than expected; there is only a 1 in 20 chance that the difference is random. In science, 95 percent certainty is considered the norm.”
