Flower Mound High School brings two presentations to the Black Box Theatre. Sense and Sensibility will show on May 11 and 13 at 7:00 p.m. while Failure: A Love Story will be presented on May 12 at 7:00 p.m. and May 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hamill is based on the novel by Jane Austen. Set in late 18th century England, this dramatic story follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters after their father suddenly dies and leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Sense and Sensibility examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures.
Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins is a comedy that follows the Fail sisters as they live out their lives above the family clock repair shop before their time unexpectedly runs out. In this story, we see that the power of love is far greater than any individual’s successes or failures.
The ‘Prents cast performing Failure: A Love Story got the unique opportunity to Skype with the playwright during class as they were beginning to rehearse for the show. Director Keli Wilson said, “He was amazing, and he really gave the kids some insight on their characters, the storyline and on himself. It was a very cool experience!”
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Seating is limited so audiences are encouraged to order online at www.fmhstheatre.net. Sense and Sensibility was produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Services while Failure: A Love Story was produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.
